why do angry crouds set cars on fire?

Thank author of this post/commentit seems that whenever there's a riot or a local sports team wins they take to the street and eventually set cars on fire or damage them in some form. For a country that supposedly has a love affair with automobiles this activity seems sort of stupid. Is there a psycological reason for this ?
