Rugby is very similar to American football. I would say American football and not just football, because the game of soccer is actually football and has been sort of nick named soccer.
I believe the term soccer is a British one, but football is a game where one uses there feet to play the ball and not the hands. Rugby is a very suiting name for that particular sport and it is indeed a unique one, brilliant and very much original.
