Answers: Why are oval tracks considered to have 4 turns?

Thank author of this post/commentI've watched NASCAR for over 15 years now and I've never really understood why each turn on an oval is divided into 2 separate turns at the entrance and exit (turns 1 and 2, turns 3 and 4 are really just the same curve). Yeah, Indy has actual short striaghts in between the turns. I wonder if that's where it came from.
