Aikido, the peaceful martial art

I think Aikido was developed by a Japanese master in the 30s, but it must have been present in Japanese culture before then.

It is such an awsome set of moral and physical tools that there is no way that it was just "invented" by a person all of a sudden.

It is the art of staying peaceful and not harming anyone, much less an agressor trying to harm us.

It is the ultimate tool for peace. It is being able to destroy someone at will and not doing it because it is contrary to our philosophy of life.

Watching Aikido practitioners at work is something unusual that looks like it is not human.

In this world of violence and aggression, it is very refreshing.

Cheers!

This topic has piqued my interest. As a growing child I have seen a couple of martial arts movies and the best that I can think of when it comes to Aikido is probably Steven Segal, do correct me if I am wrong with this reference.

There is a certain grace with this kind of martial arts. Their movements are like water but they should not be underestimated as their capacity to protect its wielder is as deadly as any other martial arts out there.
