Are all the fans of hockey violent?

Hi to all. I know that hokey is such a physical and most of the time a violent sports. There is this time when I watched a match with friends and all I can see are fans that are also violent, in the sense that they would shout at you and would do dirty gestures towards the opposing fans there. That is why I would want to ask, is hockey really violent as well as their fans?
