Does competition go against Christianity?

Thank author of this post/commentProfessional Football, Baseball, Basketball, Soccer and all professional sports literally go against Christianity as they promote competition rather than harmony. While competition brings greater material wealth, doesn't it at the same time sacrifice spiritual growth? If one guy is up, the other guy has to be down. By stepping on our other humans, aren't we destroying our spiritual bond with each other?

Thank author of this post/comment"Professional Sports is for Idiots"

And there is a lot wrong with it... but who cares if it is for or against Christianity?

I certainly agree that harmony is better than competition... but I can't imagine how anyone could think that any organized religion actually promotes or supports harmony!

I don't think competition go against Christianity. Sports are part of human recreation. A team can bring harmony within team. Being sport should be embodied and accept defeat.

I have played soccer and whether we lose or win we feel great to play in the field. No hatred at all, just sports. I think it just depends on the belief of a person. For me no big deal on it.

Football and other sports bringing other people in other place in unity. The problem against this events ids that it aid , many to go beyond the limitations and adds the conflict on it which makes the game more dirty. the religion should not be in to it because this is practically not a part of it. I hope many people would realize the great essence of having these sports to advertise and make friend to others.

Sportsmanship and fair play. Are these principles of sport against Christianity? If sport is no good then how about war? Christianity's history is full of wars against non believers. Are you saying that sport is no good but war is?

I do not believe that competition goes against Christianity. I think as long as competitors keep it friendly. I have taken many kids to barrel racing competition and one thing I always made sure of was that they never be a sore loser or winner. Competition can bring people together. Many teams even pray before a game. That and the bible is full of people competing.
