| Love chessAs a kid I used to play chess with my dad. Sometimes he would let me win, but I knew that was just a motivator and made believe I had won.In my teen years I also played with a German immigrant who was a waiter at a local restaurant. He had been a prisoner in Russia for a time and learned chess from his jailers, according to him. He was a master. Hans used to tell me to "organize my men patiently" the get them moving like panzers toward the other side. It usually worked! Now, after many years I want to get back on the chessboard and am looking for a manual that will get these old memories back. Any suggestions? Thanks and cheers! |
| I believe that chess is a good exercise of our mental abilities. Some people find it boring but it is actually a game for intellectuals. I think only people who don't enjoy using their brains will not like chess. That's why I already teach my kids to play chess even while they are still young. At least if they begin to enjoy it, they will get better as they grow up. It doesn't matter if they'll be able to beat me. |
