Best opening?

My dad used to play chess and he taught me to play very early in life. By the time I was in fifth or sixth grade I could hold my own with much older kids.

But then he sadly passed away and I slowly receeded from the game until for a long time I did not play at all.

Now I am seeking to revive the enthusiasm again but have some questions.

Is there a Chess Club somewhere in San Juan, Puerto Rico?

I think that is the best way to proceed, that is by joining a group of people like me that will inspire with their interest.

For instance, what is the best beginning move?

I remember a French opening!

Any suggestions?
