Boxing: 4 primary offensive weapons; jab, cross, hook and uppercut.Mma: Many offensive weapons; punches, kicks, knees, elbows, take downs, submissions. Boxing: primary targets; front of head, front of torso and sides of torso. Mma: primary targets; from feet to top of head excluding knees, groin and back of head for strikes. Boxing: Established sport, rules and regs pretty much set. Mma: Still new, rules and regs still being established. Boxing: Has Don King. Mma: Still looking for it's Don King. Boxing: Most of the best fighters usually come from poverty and boxing allows them a way to escape from poverty, even tho very few will make it.(of course there are a few exceptions) Mma: Most of the best fighters (outside of Brazil) come from a middle class background, college wrestlers or people who can afford to train with the best coaches and don't have to worry about their next meal. (again there are a few exceptions) Other than that, they are exactly the same.
